The Sun Shines on the Summer Fair

A huge thank you to the PTA for organising our annual summer fair. The school grounds had been transformed - there was so much to see and do!
The refreshments were fantastic with lots of gorgeous homemade cakes to choose from.
The Tombola was in the reliable hands of Mr and Mrs Colling. Everyone's a winner!!
Lots of children took the opportunity to throw wet sponges at Mr.Madeley for the very last time! We're not sure if our new headmistress will be volunteering next year.
The PTA and an army of parent helpers were on hand to make sure the fair ran smoothly.
Candy floss, cakes and sweets were all on offer - luckily the Scrutons were on hand to provide a healthier snacking option!

In the Beauty Tent you could choose from a range of pampering treatments: face painting, manicures and even a tattoo artist!
Where else could you receive such a professional service at such a discount price??
Thank you to everyone that came along and supported the school fair and helped to make it such a great day.

We hope to see you all again next year!

Bonjour le Tour! ~ Class 2

Class 2 welcomed the Tour de France to Yorkshire with a week of activities with a cycling and French theme. We started the week with a visit from Dave (Mrs Burnley's brother!) who told us about some of the cycling challenges he has achieved and he inspired us to reach our own goals by being determined and focused and always striving to do our best. The children were particularly impressed by his double Iron Man Challenge which he trained for between his shifts as a fire fighter. He also gave us lots of information about team tactics in the Tour de France race.

We had a fantastic Sports Day in the sunshine. Everyone gave their best effort and we were particularly impressed with Theo Abbey who was awarded the best competitor in Keystage 1.

We decorated some buns using the colours of France and the Tour de France.

We came to school dressed in yellow and had a delicious French themed lunch.

We decorated a bike to celebrate the Tour coming to Harewood.

We had a brillaint week and we hope you enjoyed watching the Tour with your families at the weekend.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it ...!!

Lord Wintergreen has been found dead on the banks of the River Thames. Sherlock Holmes has been called on to solve the case - but who can help him? The Baker Street Irregulars of course!
This year our KS2 production is a musical murder mystery set in Victorian London. The children play the part of Victorian street urchins who have been drafted in to help the great detective, Sherlock Holmes

The children have really enjoyed learning the songs and taking part in rehearsals. Our first show this afternoon was a great success and we are hoping that our audiences will be just as impressed at our two evening performances.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Grand Departy!

Wow! How fabulous was our Tour de France weekend? We really got things off to a fantastic start with our Tour de France feature week.

Each class decorated a bicycle. We didn't settle for just painting them yellow! The classes went all out to produce designs to be proud of.

During the week the children learnt about the history of the tour. Did you know that part of the first tour took place during the night? They had to stop night riding as cyclists were cheating under the cover of darkness!
We also looked at how the bikes are designed to achieve maximum speed and the tactics used in the race.

The week ended with our celebration assembly when each class presented their finished bicycles.
