Rugby Coaching and Tournament

On Friday 30th April Class 4 spent the day at Wetherby Rugby Club for a morning of coaching and an afternoon tournament against some other local schools. The rain clouds held off as we enjoyed a skills based activity session with some young leaders from Boston Spa School.
After lunch we became more competitive as Harewood was split into three teams and had to compete against each other as well as against other school teams. Everyone played their best and showed excellent rugby skills as well as brilliant team work. Will offered his support from the side lines and encouraged all the teams with his enthusiasm. One Harewood team won all five of their matches against some tough opposition and as a result qualify for a finals day in June. Well done Class 4 for an all round great day out.

Year 1 Yorkshire Adventure - Swinsty Reservoir

On Thursday 29th April, Year 1 went to Swinsty Reservoir. It was our Yorkshire Adventure. We walked all the way round the reservoir. We learnt how to be safe when hiking and around water. We also learnt about the reservoir and the woods. We sat down under the trees to have our packed lunch. Our favourite bit was climbing up the roots of an old tree. It was great fun.
When we got back to the car park we felt tired but very pleased with ourselves. Some of us had a sleep in the bus on the way home.

Qatar catastrophe!

Hello everybody, greetings from a very sunny Qatar!

As you know the volcano in Iceland has been causing lots of problems for anyone wanting to travel to the UK by air. I was making my way back from my holiday in Vietnam, but only got as far as Qatar in the Middle East. Qatar is a very small country, it is mainly desert and you can go out dune bashing in a 4x4 jeep!

This is a picture of the main market - called the souk. It was really interesting to look around - especially the pet section! The good news is that my flight is due to take off tonight, so hopefully I will be back at school on Monday. Will be checking on your homework Class 3 and your spelling test results, so get practising! See you all soon, Miss King

Creative Arts Week in Class One

On Monday we had an African drumming workshop. We learned about the different drums and all had a go at playing them. We ended the day by playing our drums for Class Two in the hall. We had a fantastic time.

On Wednesday we met Andy, who shared a poem with us.

Andy helped us to hear the rhythm and rhyme in his poem.

Finding the rhyme - with help from the magnetic letters.

Class One being Morris the Mouse - who has lost his house!
