Class 2 Christmas trip to Harewood House

Class 2 Christmas trip 2018

Harewood House

The Class 2 children were lucky enough to attend a Christmas workshop at Harewood House. We took part in a variety of festive activities and crafts which we would love to share with you!

After a brisk walk down to The Harewood Estate, we gathered in the Christmas snug to drop off our packed lunches and find out what was in store for us!

We began the trip with a visit to the House.

We heard the story of George and Gerald, sons of Princess Mary. Here we saw them going up to bed one Christmas Eve. The next rooms that we visited told a story of the dreams the boys had that evening.

In the first room we visited, we saw the guests of Princess Mary enjoying a 1920s style Christmas Eve party. How very fabulous!

In the next room we were greeted by a 'Mad Hatter' style tea party. Our mouths were watering tremendously looking at all of the beautiful cakes and desserts.

At our following stop off, we were wowed by Pan, the Greek God of nature carrying a sack of Christmas presents.

This part of the dream was influence by Princess Mary's wedding.

This room was inspired by the story of The Wizard of Oz.

Next we went downstairs to the servants quarters.

The kitchen was decorated with hundreds of beautifully iced gingerbread men.

Next we went outside into the garden to look at some fabulous live sculptures.

Following our trip to the garden we went back indoors to warm up and here we began our first Christmas craft. These are our gingerbread designs.

Our next activity was making winter bird feeders.

Before we started our final craft activity we had to do something VERY tricky!

We had to close our eyes and not make a sound for 3 whole minutes!

While we had our eyes closed we were thinking of a design a that we could use to decorate a Christmas lantern.

Before we knew it our 3 minutes was over and off we began!

And how very beautiful the end result was!

 Well done Class 2!

All this hard work definitely called for a refreshment break!

So off we went back to the Christmas snug for a delicious hot chocolate and a Christmas story before heading back to school.

What a fantastically festive day!
