Class One's Map Reading Adventure

Lots of children in Class One have been interested in maps recently and have been drawing different kinds of maps at home and in the classroom. On Friday we had the chance to visit the grounds of Harewood House, so we had a map reading adventure. We looked at the map of the park before we set off and again during our journey. Everyone was brilliantly behaved and the weather was lovely. After reaching the walled garden we had our fruit and a drink before setting off back to school for lunch.
The children wrote their own words to go with our photographs.
"We were exhausted. We ran to the tree." Sinead

"Me and Sinead went down this way." Emily

"This is the bridge." Martha
"I sat in the shelter." Joe

"We went to the river bridge." Connel
"We looked at the big map." Sam

"I said go that way." Luca

"We looked how to spell garden" Theo
"We had the milk on the grass." Thomas

"I got a pine cone." Henry

"I am looking at the water." Arun
"Everyone is in the trees." Koutaro
