There's always Space for new board games!
This week we have been designing and making our very own Space-theme board games. This has linked our Science topic of Space and also our current English focus of instructions. Today, many of the groups finally finished and we able to play their fantastic games. In the picture below you will see that the board is complete with a working spinner, question cards, a superb coloured board, and playing pieces. Importantly, it also included a thorough, clear set of instructions so that not only the creators can enjoy the game.
This spinner is attached to the board, making it a central feature....
Just look at the playing pieces on this brilliantly-designed playing board!

Some of the playing boards were superbly coloured and appealing. Also worthy of note, is that this board pays some attention to the different sizes of the sun and its planets. There has also been some superb research taking place this week in order to create accurate quiz question cards on our theme of Space.
It has been a great deal of fun working on these games this week and I think the class are rightfully proud of their work. It has taken a lot of time and effort to create these games (complete with superb instructions!) but I'm sure you'll agree it has been totally worth it!

He shoots! He scores!
Ever wanted to bend it like Beckham? Well now is your chance. The Leeds United coaches are once again working with Harewood to produce the football stars of the future.
Class 3 are lucky enough to have Andy, head coach, working with them during their P.E lessons every Wednesday. We have been learning how to use the different parts of our foot to control the ball and strike it with power and accuracy.

Welcome to Harewood C of E Primary School
Here we are! A very BIG welcome to all the new Class One children.
Hello everyone!
As you can see from the above photos I 'm not a professional photographer. However I think I've managed to capture all our lovely faces on one, or other, of these pictures. I hope I have also managed to capture some of the excitement we have been feeling this week about starting school as well as the characters of this lively bunch.
What a fantastic bunch they are! We have had a great week and everyone seems to be settled in - ready for lunches on Monday and full days on Wednesday. Well done to the children and parents for the fantastically smart uniforms, brilliant attitudes to a new challenge and for being so happy! We are going to have a great year. Watch this space...

Pyramid Points!
While the rest of us were enjoying a well earned break, Class 3 have been hard at work. They have been collecting 'pyramid points' by creating fabulous Egyptian projects.
The creative types in Class 3 made a range of masks. This one was made using papier mache - it must have taken ages!

These are both replicas of Tutankhamun's death mask. They look almost as good as the real thing.
The children also put their imagination's to use building pyramids. This one is made out of papier mache topped off with coffee and sugar. Not only does it look good - but it smells good too!
