Harewood talent hits the big time
I was down in Millennium Square watching the CBBC Live Show when I spotted some of very talented children up on the stage! Can you spot them too?
Yorkshire Wildlife Park
As their reward for winning the Lego Design Competition on Friday 21st July Class 4 went on a trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
The animals we saw were awesome.
There was also a brilliant outdoor adventure playground.
We found a great spot for lunch.
Then off to see even more animals,
and play on the even more brilliant indoor adventure playground.
We finished the day with a game of sleeping lions....no, sorry, those were real sleeping lions! It was a superb trip, but nothing more than this great Class 4 deserved.

Thanksgiving Service
Can it be that we are at the end of the school year already? As always we took the time to give thanks for all the talented children we have at Harewood and to reflect on the learning experiences we have had this year.
Luckily the sun was shining on our picnic this year. We all had a lovely time soaking up the sun in front of Harewood House.
After lunch we made our way to the church for our Thanksgiving Service. There were performances from the choir, guitarists and recorder players. Each class had prepared a short piece for the audience of parents and friends of Harewood. Class 2 signed a rainbow.
The church was full and the singing was fantastic.
Class 4 had re-written the lyrics to a song they had been subjected to during Mr.Madeleys mini-bus adventures. Bob Geldof would have been proud of the changes they had made!
The service ended and the children wound their way back to school singing to Mr.Sturgess on the guitar.
Yer money or yer life!
You may have got away with your life - but we were definitely after your wallet! As part of Class 3's enterprise unit the children had designed ways to raise funds linked to our school production of 'Treasure Island'.
The class decided on pirate themed snacks. Bags of pirate loot were on sale for 60p each or 2 for £1.00. Each bag also contained a pirate joke of dubious quality! The class were also trained in the art of programme selling. Why have just one lucky programme if you can have two?
This detailed treasure map was created by two pupils in the class. For 20p a square you could try and track down the treasure.
Would you mess with this surly character?? Better to hand over your spare cash for a good cause.
In Numeracy the next day we counted up our loot. It was a great lesson in practical maths. After costs the class had raised an amazing £280.00. Thank you so much to everyone who came along and supported the production and gave so generously. The money will be used to buy sound equipment for the production next year.
Treasure Island Ahoy!
Last week saw the world premiere of Harewood's unique version of 'Treasure Island'. The children were fantastic and once again showed what accomplished performers they are.
Despite the heat the children gave blistering performances.
Ben Gunn and Jim Hawkins share a well earned piece of cheese.
George Merry makes his feelings clear - he's not keen on Long John's plan!
The children played to packed houses for three performances.
Class 3 provided the voices for the choir. Their rendition of some rock classics injected real energy into the production.
Captain Smollett at your service!
Watch out - these pirates are not to be messed with.
