This week Class One visited Brimham Rocks for their very first Yorkshire Adventure.
What a glorious day it was. As always, Mr Madeley entertained and educated as we all walked, played, scrambled and squeezed our way around this beautiful and interesting part of Yorkshire.

The children were brilliant and there wasn't one complaint about the all the hard work they had to do. I also think that I only heard the question "When is it lunch time?" twice in the whole morning.
Safety, and learning about safety, was the key objective for the day. There was lots of instruction and discussion about how the children could manage their own safety when undertaking potentially risky activities and they were given lots of opportunities to consider making safe choices for themselves and their friends. I must point out however that all the elements of the day were very carefully risk assessed and managed by the adults who accompanied the visit.
In addition to leaning how to stay safe ourselves, we also learned about how the rocks were formed and (through lots of fun games) we considered how different animals adapt to their environments and hunt or stay hidden in order to survive.
