As part of our Mardi Gras-themed Feature Week this week, each teacher offered a different activity which all the pupils got to try out in their house teams. In Class 4, we decided to make a street procession scene inspired by cubism and using only the colours of the Mardi Gras carnival. Using this limited palette and mostly using just one shape (triangles for the less observant!) we began creating our dancers.....
The images were then cut out and placed on a background, again using the colours of Mardi Gras. The finished characters looked fantastic; there's over a hundred of them so this piece is going to be really huge when it's all collated but should hopefully look vibrant and exciting like the carnival itself. Thank you to all of the pupils who came to Class 4 today - you were all brilliant and I was so impressed that everyone who came to the session managed to contribute a really effective piece. What a fun day!
One of many designs that I was particularly drawn to - it's one of the most abstract but the placement of the shapes is really effective. When the finished piece is on display hopefully you will all come and choose your own personal favourites!
