Year 5 Yorkshire Adventure- Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Group 1 started their adventure in the underground gallery. We spent a long time on this piece, trying to make sense of why some if the faces we shrouded with grey. After deciding it was a picture of the last supper (using the room card) the boys decided the shroud were around those who had abandoned or betrayed Jesus. I was very impressed!

We loved these faces- especially as the feature are created by reflections of the roof and other faces- it gives them eyes and hair!

Whenever we found something interesting we had a stop for sketching.

This set of horns had us flummoxed but eventually we worked out the wording- Nietzsche- not sure the stag link but we enjoyed working it out.

We got this one first time- snowball trapped in ice!

This caught our attention as the concave elements sparkled in the sun. Quite lovely!

This crazy tree caught our attention. The placing and colour of the apples was cause of discussion and we decided they were enchanted in an evil way- like in Snow White

Joe loved this piece as he felt it could be 4 ladders in the snow or a fence in the snow!

Having found the glitziest Buddha ever we had s moment of reflection- ok no but we did enjoy the colours.

We found the giant rabbit installation and began searching for the hidden items- quite a mixed bag!

'art makes children powerful!' I could not agree more. Creativity and imagination is a child's most precious gift. It fades quickly if it isn't nurtured.

We found a fort after lunch.

Our last sketching activity was in the mosaic garden. We loved the use of colour.
