Class One Week Beginning 15.3.21

We had a great second week back to school, with child initiated writing (and some with a little prompting) popping up all over the place to support the fabulous role play this week.

The most popular role play game this week involved lots of digging and mud! Except it wasn't mud it was concrete and the children were builders. Their friends worked hard in the kitchen to feed them and there was some fabulous sign writing to keep everyone safe.

Look at this other lovely child initiated writing.

We were excited to see some new arrivals for the garden. We will watch the frogspawn grow into tadpoles and then froglets before returning them to the pond where they came from - Thank you!

The sign will help to keep them safe and I took the opportunity to show the children how the laminator works to keep all our paper signs waterproof in the garden.

Choosing dinners from the morning menu has been fun again and a great opportunity to practise phonics. Sometimes a little help is needed (there are some very tricky food words) but the phonics card is also there to help with the reading.
We also manage to get some real maths into the morning routine by calculating how many of each dinner we need.

Phonics lessons and challenges.

Music lessons, learning about the violin.

Here are lots of other things we have done this week to support literacy, communication and language development, PSED, maths, physical development, understanding the world, expressive arts and RE.

Well done Class One!
