Class One Week beginning 29.3.21 - Easter Week!

The final week of the Spring Term was only short but packed with fun and learning.

We began the week by thinking again abut the Easter story and re-telling it in our own words, with the help of picture prompts.

The frogspawn have hatched into little tadpoles so we moved them into their  temporary new home.

We had a big Easter Egg hunt on Tuesday. After splitting into three teams, The Fluffy Rabbits, The Yellow Chicks and The Spring Lambs, the children had to use their phonics skills to read the clues and find hidden words all around the school grounds.

Once all the words were found they worked as a team to read them and put them into a sentence. We talked about the beginning of the sentence having a capital letter and the end having a full stop.

Once we found the eggs and wrote a sign together (because Mrs Watts has a bad memory!) we kept them safe for the next day. On Wednesday our mission was to work in our teams again to equally share the eggs. We did estimating, careful counting and made sure the eggs were shared fairly to everyone. Each group had a few spares, which couldn't be shared equally between five, and they decided to give them to Mr Ratcliffe. He was very pleased!

We enjoyed another Easter Egg hunt on our Thursday for our Easter Celebration Day, along with Easter bingo and lots of prizes. The 'decorate an egg' competition was very popular and Mr Ratcliffe came to give out the prizes. Huge thanks to the PTA for organising the fun and thank you to all the families for supporting the school by bringing their £5.

Here are some other photos of our fab week, including child initiated writing, music with Mrs Jarvis and PE in the garden.

On Thursday we ended the week by turning our Cosy Cottage garden into an Easter garden, after asking the question, 'Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter Garden?' The children worked in their colour groups to build a tomb/cave and make a cross. The tomb was constructed from clay and finished with stones or soil, to the maker's designs. I think they all did a fabulous job! It was lots of fun to get messy hands in the clay too!

Happy Easter everyone!
have a very happy and safe holidays.
