Class 4 On Your Bike!

On Thursday and Friday last week everyone in Year 6 had a chance to participate in a cycling efficiency training course to teach us how to cycle safely on the road.

On Thursday we learnt Level One training exercises at Gateways school, these included: how to get on and off the bike, start off the pedal correctly, stop under control, manoeuvre around obstacles, look around without excessive wobbling and signalling right and left without wobbling.

After we had learnt the basics we went onto the road, we all cycled up to East Keswick on Friday which included some fast down hill roads that we had to follow. When we got to East Keswick we went onto some Level Two training. After that excitement we made our way up to Williams house to have our lunch (this included some very steep hills). After lunch, we carried on with our training before finally making our way back to school.

  1. You learnt a lot, Year 6. Now make sure you use that learning when you are out cycling.
