Class 2 visited Thwaite Mills Island as part of their topic on Minibeasts. We started off by using nets to catch any insects we saw and looked at them closely using magnifying glasses.
We found lots of mini beasts including ladybirds, spiders, millipedes and snails.
This is an insect hotel! Anyone fancy checking in?
We put on some gardening gloves and searched through the compost for more mini beasts.
What have you found now Connel?
We were having a great time and the sun was shining!
George showed us how bees make honey in a hive. It was very interesting and we all listened really carefully.
We all enjoyed using the nets for pond dipping. There were lots of water creatures for us to see. We used information cards to identify them.
We had a lovely picnic lunch in the garden, we were all hungry after our morning activities.
We had a good run around outside with skipping ropes and balls and then played circle games with Miss Clayton.
In the afternoon we had a craft activity making a butterfly or a dragonfly. We concentrated and followed the instructions we were given.
They look great! We had a brilliant day exploring nature and found out even more about mini beasts.
